 | | 2007 Annual General Meeting | | | Visual Arts Report West Prince Arts Council July 14th 2007 | The annual midwinter Student’ Art Expo was again dislayed in two venues, for two weeks at each location:- the Tyne Valley Village Hall and the Alberton Community Centre and Bowling Alley and Bingo Hall. There were 360 works from the schools in Alberton, St.Louis, DeBlois, O'Leary, Ellerslie, Lennox Island and Hernewood. This year we received $1,200.00 from the P.E.I. Students'Art Expo Fund, which was so much more than usual that we put aside half of it for next year. It enabled us to give each participating school a box of art supplies, enough for every class to have a painting and/or pastel lesson. It was noticed that there were fewer painting pictures, and it was felt that perhaps the schools needed art supplies. Total cost this year was $980.00. The West Island Art Gallery Co-op again operated in the Bideford building in 2006. It will not open this summer due to declining numbers of artists exhibiting. June Ellis was the featured artist in the first edition of a new magazine called Island Living. This magazine is published by Kathy MacNeil of Tyne Valley. Debbie Brady, also of Tyne Valley, designed the layout. Pat Hardy of Ellerslie contributed to the photography. The first issue came out on June 1st of this year. The next issue is due out on September 1st. It is a quarterly magazine. Submitted by Nan Ferrier | | | |
