 | | 2007 Annual General Meeting | | | (Acting) President's Report West Prince Arts Council Year 2007 - 2008 | The small committee tried to keep track of all the activities and events happening within the area, all the while organizing a variety of activities.
The grants adjudication was held at the end of October 2007. We approved five projects. In April 2008 we approved six more projects.
We presented Alexandria Dalton with a student bursary worth $250.00 at the Westisle graduation on June 21, 2007.
Almeda M. Thibodeau organized a new and used book sale at the St.Anthony's parish hall on Saturday, November 17, 2007 with seven sellers. Nan Ferrier organized the Student Arts Expo again this year in February and March 2008 in Tyne Valley and Alberton. Most schools in the area participated and there was great art work from the students. Dorothy Griffin-Farish did an update to the Web Site with help from Anthony Miller. We still need a bit of adjusting, and to add the upcoming activities, but the site is well received. Ivan Ashley started collecting information for the update of the new directory of artists of various disciplines in the West Prince area. We will need special funding before we can complete and print the directory.
Christina Campbell and Almeda Thibodeau organized an art show and sale at the St. Anthony's Parish Hall on Sunday, April 27th, 2008 where Christina instructed a children's art workshop. There were nine artists and ten youths participating. It was visited by over 120 people. The public and artists showed enough interest that there will be another all-day show and sale on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at the same place. We continue doing the contacts, bookkeeping and secretarial work needed. Also we organize the Annual General Meeting and find recipients for the John Hunter Duvar Award presented at that meeting.
Respectfully, Nan Ferrier | | | |
