A new and used book sale was held at St. Anthony's Hall, Bloomfield on November 17, 2007. The afternoon writers' workshop, scheduled for the same day, was cancelled.
"Letters to Boston: Life in West Point, P.E.I. in the early 1900's", written by Audrey MacDonald and Alma Rix, was launched in December 2007. A book review was done and sent to the Island Register and to local newspapers.
Congratulations to Allan Graham, former president of West Prince Arts Council, creative writer, and organizer of Western Authors' Group (WAG) on receiving the P.E.I. Museum and Heritage Award of Honor from Lieutenant-Governor Barbara Hagerman in 2008 for a lifetime of support for cultural and heritage activities, community history projects in West Prince area, provincial heritage organizations and contributions to history of the railway on P.E.I. Allan is presently working on Volume II of "Goin' to the Corner", the genealogy of Elmsdale and surrounding areas. He is also actively involved in WAG and a number of other projects.
Congratulations also to David Helwig. He has recently been appointed Poet Laureate. Helwig has created a website to enable poets to share their poetry. The website is found at www.poetrypei.com
A number of meetings of WAG have been held over the past year, with good attendance. The meetings, which ended in May, will resume in September 2008 on the 13th. It was decided at the May meeting to have six WAG meetings per year - in September, October, November, March, April and May.
